I’m a photographer and storyteller based in the Netherlands.
I’ve always been drawn to people — to who they are beneath what is visible.
Through my photographs, I search for what connects us beyond place, background or circumstance.
My work begins with listening closely to someone’s story. From that, I construct an image — grounded in their reality, but shaped through my eye.
I never observe from a distance. I work in proximity. Through light and composition, I shape the image around what is already there. It’s not something I simply capture — it’s something we shape together.
Light plays a central role in my photography. I use it to bring someone forward and give them weight within the image — as the central figure in their own story.
I work in both colour and black and white. In colour, the world remains present — a place, a context, a life unfolding. In black and white, I draw closer to the person — to expression, character and presence.
Each portrait carries a story — not only in the image, but also in words. Fragments of a conversation, a memory, a moment, gathered in the encounter.
Stories in Light grows from that —
images of people,
of dignity,
of being seen.
